CAMBODIA UNCOVERED
Private, tailor made holidays in Cambodia you won't forget |
'Cambodia Uncovered' specialises in individualised tailor made boutique holidays to suit your interests and your schedule. We can organise themed trips such as textile and handicraft tours, culinary tours, bird watching trips, architectural tours or boat trips or you can have a mixture of activities that may include various activities
If you take one of our trips, you will get undivided attention as we only cater for 1 to 4 persons at any one time (all from the same party) so you will never share your tour with any other guests
Take a boat trip (day trip or longer) on our hand built timber boat Neang Niak along the Mekhong or Tonle Sap Rivers. Stop and visit villages along the way and meet the locals as they go about their earning their income from cottage industries and every day business
See Khmer daily life such as traditional methods of fishing, weaving (mats, cotton and silk), planting, transplanting, harvesting or milling rice, making rice noodles, drying or pickling vegetables and fruit, preparing tofu skin (bean curd skin), making water jars, smoking or drying fish..........the list is endless................ and is dependent on the season, the time of day and which province you are visiting
Try your hand at cooking delicious Khmer food after first shopping for ingredients at the local market
Take a day trip out to the nearby countryside of Kandal, Kompong Speu or Takeo and experience and observe the rural Khmer lifestyle that the majority of Khmer live. Or better still let us help you organise provincial trips out of Phnom Penh - northeast to Kampong Cham, Kraties, Stung Treng and beyond, north west to Kampong Chhnang, Pursat and Battambang or south to the southern provinces of Kep, Kampot or Koh Kong
Of course no trip to Cambodia is complete without seeing Angkor Wat near Siem Reap. We will help organise a trip that suits your interests and may include a stop in Kampong Thom to see other more remote temples rarely visited by tourists
Experience the common modes of transport used by Khmer - the motodop (motocycle taxi), tuk-tuk, cyclo, horse or ox cart. For those wanting to take a slow pace, experience a ride on an elephant in Mondulkiri
Listen to monks chanting prior to eating their midday lunch at a local Buddhist temple
Stay in our charming two bedroom apartment in central Phnom Penh and be close to all Phnom Penh sites of interest
Your co-host Souen, was born close to Phnom Penh but has lived and worked in various provinces of Cambodia. He has experienced first hand the many different local customs throughout Cambodia which he can share with you as he takes you on your private and tailor made tour. With his knowledge, thoughtfulness and great sense of humour, you will enjoy spending time with him. You will aslo meet various family members involved in helping our guests enjoy their time in Cambodia
We specialise in 'mature' travellers who are adventurous yet like to take their time and enjoy the sights, tastes and sounds in a new country. You can be assured of a trip that will be comfortable and safe yet will allow you to see the true Cambodia and have a genuine experience. We are sure you will look back on the day or days you spent with 'Cambodia Uncovered' and consider it a highlight (if not the highlight) of your trip (not only to Cambodia, but the region)
We cater for individuals, couples, very small groups (up to 4 persons travelling together) to ensure specialised care and an opportunity for visitors to blend in without feeling like they are intruding
Help us plan your trip
Let us know what you like, what you don't like, how long you are planning to stay and we can help you organise a trip you will never forget
Guests are often overwhelmed by the hospitality and friendliness of Khmer despite the abject poverty seen in some areas. You won't be disappointed by their smiles and zest for life despite the difficulties many continue to face
We highly recommend you get off the beaten track of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap even if it is only for a couple of days and uncover the real Cambodia. We are sure you won't regret your decision
